Imtiaz Ali is no new name to someone who watches bollywood movies. In fact all these years he has been famous as a director who makes these unique stand out films. It is his unique style which seizes the audience and make them fall in love with his movies every time.
From “Socha Na Tha” to “Tamasha”, he has been able to portray human emotions beautifully, and that’s the reason we admire him.
So, we decided to give you some more reason to admire him by telling you some facts which you might not know.
1. Before coming to Bollywood industry, he was just like any teenagers who didn’t know about his future. He wanted to be a professional basketball player, an author, an engineer, but after completing college and taking part in theater actively. He finally got attached to film-making.

2. His father did irrigation jobs and while being born in Jamshedpur. He was always a down to earth guy since he used to accompany his father to the fields.

3. He made his debut as director in Bollywood with Abhay Deol and Ayesha Takia starrer “Socha Na Tha”. Since its was his debut movie, it took him 4 years to complete the film. During this time he learned almost everything about how a Bollywood movie is made. Although, the movie was not successful in the theaters but was critically acclaimed.
4. Imtiaz’s first choice for Rockstar was Deepika Padukone but since Deepika and Saif Ali Khan’s 2009 starrer Love Aaj Kal and Rockstar had some similar scenes. He then thought to cast another actress and hence opted for Nargis Fakhri.

5. Can you believe he never liked “Jab We Met”. The film was earlier named as “Train” and was compared with “Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge”. Imtiaz never thought the movie could be a superhit since he thought it didn’t have that X-factor and the stroy was pretty mediocre.

6. Actually “Highway” was the first movie he wrote and when he met Alia Bhatt when she was 5 years old. He had already made his mind to cast her in the movie.
7. Imtiaz Ali doesn’t believe in marriage. In fact he thinks marriage is artificial and leads a person to live in a claustrophobic environment. After his divorce with Preety Ali, he says marriage actually makes you to live on someone else’s expectations. In short it makes you someone you are not.
8. Just the way Ranbir’s role is portrayed in the movie “Tamasha” who doesn’t like Mathematics. Imtiaz feels the same way in his real life.

9. Imtiaz Ali is a big fan of ‘Dilip Kumar Saab’ and says that Dilipji is the only Bollywood hero who could make a girl shiver just by looking at her.
