It can be called one of the weirdest incidents that have taken place in between of a cricket match. On Friday, a cricket match in Brisbane was halt in between as an angry taxi driver drove his taxi into the ground and parked it on the cricket pitch as a team was about to begin their batting. The incident took place on the DM Henderson Park where a match between Macgregor Cricket Club and Griffith University was being played. The taxi driver was very angry as during the batting of Macgregor, Nigel Sherborne hit the bowl straight in the air which sailed out of the stadium and it dropped on the windscreen of the taxi which was outside.
This made the driver very angry and he decided to express his outrage in this manner, so he drove his taxi with damaged windscreen into the field and parked it on the pitch. It was the time when Griffith University team was about to start their batting.
The players and management tried a lot to convince the driver to move away his taxi but he was not in the mood to listen to everyone, he kept sitting in the cab and argued with everyone. Till the police reached the spot and made driver to remove his taxi, game of eight overs was lost by then.
Troy Burns, the secretary of Macgregor has posted this on the Facebook page of the club, “Nigel hit a straight drive off Tom English for six smashing into a parked cabbie. Not happy and in protest he then drove onto the field and parked in the centre of the pitch.”
Social media is also abuzz with the incident and humor has been added to it by saying that a taxi driver’s “straight drive” has interrupted a whole match.
