The Australian Pace Bowler Mitchell Johnson has decided to bid goodbye to International Cricket after the 2nd cricket test match which is being played between New Zealand and Australia, in WACA, his adopted home ground.
The 34 year cricketer gave a statement on Tuesday on the fourth day of WACA test in which said, “beyond this match I’m just not sure that I can continue competing consistently at the level required to wear the baggy green.”
He also said, “I feel now is the best time to say goodbye. It’s been an incredible ride. But the ride has to come to an end at some point and to do so here at the WACA is very special. I’ve given the decision a lot of thought. My career has certainly had its up and downs but I can honestly say I have given it my all and am proud of everything I have achieved.”
Mitchell is on the fourth spot in wicket taking list of Australian bowlers with 311 test wickets in 73 tests behind Shane’s 708, Glenn’s 563 and Dennis’s 355 wickets.
He has been a very important part of Australian bowling attack, his best phase was during 2013-14 Ashes series in which he took 37 wickets in five test matches, and this achievement was made by him after getting guidance from Dennis Lillee to improve his bowling action.
One of the quickest bowlers in modern era, Johnson also played in 153 limited-overs internationals for Australia and took 239 wickets and scored 951 ODI runs.
Mitchell played 153 limited overs cricket and took 239 wickets, he also scored 951 runs in One-Day Internationals.

Along with his wickets column we need a tally of how many opposition bones Mitchell Johnson has broken through his career.

Both sad and glad that Mitchell Johnson's retiring. Sad because watching him bowl could be exhilarating. Glad because I'm English.

I can see why Mitchell Johnson's retiring. Once you only bowl at 300 mph looking like a psychopath in the Outback, you pose no threat at all
