The Indian star cricketer Virat Kohli has made it clear that he would prefer cricket broadcasters to stay focused on the game rather than discussing his favourite meals or restaurants. The former India captain believes that sports coverage should revolve around the challenges athletes face instead of trivial details about their diet.
Speaking at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit, Virat Kohli expressed his view that cricket commentary should remain relevant to the sport. He emphasised that personal details, such as what he had for lunch or his favourite food spots (Chole bhature), have no place in a match broadcast.
Known for his exceptional fitness levels, Virat Kohli has often drawn comparisons to global sporting icons like Cristiano Ronaldo and Novak Djokovic.

At 36, he maintains a strict regimen and rarely indulges in his favourite dishes to ensure he stays in top form. While he acknowledges that he is in the latter phase of his career, he reassured fans that retirement is not on the horizon as of now. He affirmed his commitment to the game, stating that as long as he continues to enjoy playing, he has no plans to step away.
With cricket set to make a grand return to the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028, Virat Kohli is thrilled about the development and credits the IPL for playing a significant role in making it happen. The idea of competing for an Olympics medal excites him and he believes it presents a fantastic opportunity for the Indian cricketers.
He envisions both men’s and women’s teams competing at the highest level and is confident that India will be strong contenders for a medal.
Although Virat Kohli retired from T20 internationals last year, he jokingly hinted that if India were to reach the gold medal match at the Olympics, he might be tempted to make a brief comeback, just for one game, to win a medal and return home.
For Virat Kohli, the inclusion of cricket in the Olympics is a landmark moment for the sport, further elevating its global appeal.
