Sourav Ganguly is one of the most loved cricketers of the country and pretty soon we will get to see his life story on the big screen.
The former Indian cricket captain and ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao will play his character in his much-anticipated biopic. Over the years, several actors including Ranbir Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana were rumored to be in contention for the role. However, Sourav Ganguly himself put all the speculations to rest while speaking to the media in West Bengal’s Bardhaman, stating that Rajkummar Rao has been chosen for the lead role.
While the film has generated excitement among cricket and cinema enthusiasts, Sourav Ganguly noted that its release will take time due to scheduling constraints. He indicated that it will take more than a year for the project to reach theaters, as certain challenges, including date availability, need to be addressed.
On the same day as this revelation, Sourav Ganguly was involved in a minor road accident while traveling to Bardhaman for an event. His convoy suffered some damage but fortunately, he escaped unhurt and continued his journey after a brief delay.
Meanwhile, Rajkummar Rao has a busy year ahead with multiple films lined up. He will be seen in “Bhool Chuk Maaf”, a unique time-loop romance set in Varanasi, co-starring Wamiqa Gabbi. The teaser of the film, directed by Karan Sharma, was recently unveiled and it is set for release on April 10, 2025. The story follows Ranjan, a government employee whose life takes an unexpected turn just before his wedding.
In addition to this, Rajkummar Rao will play a gangster in “Maalik”, an action thriller scheduled for a theatrical release on June 20, 2025. The actor has also ventured into production alongside his wife Patralekhaa with their first project “Toaster”, a Netflix film featuring Sanya Malhotra, Abhishek Banerjee and Archana Puran Singh.
