Aryan Khan is all set to make his mark in the world of entertainment, not as an actor but as a storyteller and filmmaker. His directorial debut was officially unveiled at Netflix’s ‘Next on Netflix India’ event, where Shah Rukh Khan introduced his son’s first project, THE BA***DS OF BOLLYWOOD. This marks Aryan’s foray into filmmaking as a creator, writer and director, a significant milestone in his career.
During the event, Shah Rukh Khan shared insights into Aryan’s journey towards direction, revealing that the plan had initially been quite different. Aryan had pursued his education in filmmaking at the University of Southern California, preparing himself for a career behind the camera. SRK recalled that before the pandemic, he had discussions with Netflix executives Ted Sarandos and Bela Bajaria about Aryan potentially working as an assistant on a Netflix project. However, with the onset of COVID-19, those plans were disrupted, leading Aryan to return home and focus on writing instead.
Shah Rukh Khan’s association with Netflix runs deep, with his production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, having collaborated on several projects for the platform, including Love Hostel, Class of 83, Bhakshak, Darlings, Betaal and Bard of Blood. Continuing this partnership, Aryan’s debut series is also backed by Gauri Khan.
Described as an engaging and satirical take on Bollywood, the series revolves around an ambitious outsider and his friends as they navigate the unpredictable world of the film industry. It promises a gripping narrative filled with humor, drama and a behind-the-scenes look at the chaos and glamour of showbiz, featuring surprise appearances from some of the biggest names in Indian cinema.
Aryan Khan leads the creative vision for the project, working closely with co-creators Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan, who have also contributed to the writing. With his directorial debut generating immense anticipation, The BA***DS OF BOLLYWOOD is becoming one of the most awaited original series of the year on Netflix.
