The Indian pacer Anshul Kamboj who represents Haryana in domestic cricket etched his name into the record books by becoming the third bowler to claim all ten wickets in a single Ranji Trophy innings.
Anhsul Kamboj’s remarkable feat came during a match against Kerala, where he returned figures of 10-49 in 30.1 overs at Chaudhary Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Lahli. His stunning performance helped Haryana bowl out Kerala for 291 on the third day, propelling him to the ranks of cricketing legends who have achieved this rare milestone in first-class cricket. Kamboj is only the sixth Indian bowler overall to accomplish such a feat in first-class cricket.
Anshul Kamboj’s achievement places him alongside an elite list, including Premangsu Chatterjee who took 10/20 for Bengal against Assam in 1956 and Pradeep Sunderam who registered 10/78 for Rajasthan against Vidarbha in 1985.
Entering day three with eight wickets already in his bag, Kamboj wasted little time, dismissing Basil Thampi and Shoun Roger to complete his ten-wicket haul. This extraordinary effort also saw Kamboj reach the milestone of 50 wickets in just his 19th first-class appearance.
The 23-year-old from Karnal has been a rising star since his first-class debut for Haryana on February 17, 2022, in the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy. Anshul Kamboj gained attention during last season’s Vijay Hazare Trophy where he played a crucial role in Haryana’s triumph, taking 17 wickets in 10 matches. His recent form includes an impressive stint at the Duleep Trophy in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, where he became only the third pacer to claim an eight-wicket haul in the tournament, taking 8-69. Kamboj’s consistency has also earned him spots in major leagues, including three appearances for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024.
Anshul Kamboj’s exploits extend beyond domestic circuits; he recently represented India ‘A’ in the Emerging Men’s Asia Cup in Oman, claiming four wickets across three matches and he has also represented Mumbai Indians in the IPL.
The list of players who have taken all ten wickets in a single innings in international test cricket includes Jim Laker, Anil Kumble and Ajaz Patel, adding a global context to Kamboj’s remarkable achievement in the Ranji Trophy.
His performance reflects a promising future for the young pacer, with cricket enthusiasts eagerly watching for more record-breaking moments to come.
