Akshay Kumar, the Bollywood superstar is one of the busiest actors of the industry but for quite some time now, he has been going through a lean phase as he has given back-to-back flops in the recent past.
Akshay is often slammed for releasing 3-4 movies in a year as many feel that making so many movies in a year not just hampers the quality of a movie but it also weakens the exclusivity of Akshay Kumar considering the fact that he is a lead actor and not a supporting actor.
Akshay was slammed heavily for the failure of “Samrat Prithviraj” as the producer and the director of the movie showed no hesitation in saying that Akshay was not ready to give more time for the film despite the fact that it was a big budget film and was very different from the movies in which Akshay had worked till then.
However, Akshay remained unfazed with the criticism and he is still working at his own speed. Currently, Akshay is busy in the promotions of his latest release “Sarfira” which released yesterday and is getting positive reviews from the audiences. “Sarfira” is the remake of Tamil movie “Soorarai Pottru” in which actor Suriya played the lead character. The Hindi version is directed by Sudha Kongara Prasad who directed the Tamil version as well and “Sarfira” also stars Paresh Rawal and Radhika Madan in important roles.
Recently, Akshay gave an interview in which he talked about various things including the race for being number one, he said that when the actors are categorized as number one or two, he feels like being a Mahalaxmi ka ghoda (horse participating in horse race). He added that Bollywood produces almost 200 movies every year, the number increases if we add the movies from South as well but there are only 8-12 leading actors so what the need for fighting for the number one spot is, everyone has work and the whole idea is just about working.
When he was asked about the criticism that he gets for working in 3-4 movies in a year, he said that he is asked by many people about working in 4 movies in a year. I he added that he doesn’t understand why he is questioned for working more and why people are having a problem with him working more.
Akshay Kumar also questioned the credibility of film critics as he said that stars can be bought nowadays but he still values the feedback given by credible film critics.
What do you think of Akshay Kumar working in 4 movies in a year?
