The Indian cricket team managed to win their second T20 World Cup title after defeating South Africa by 7 runs in the final match of the T20 World Cup 2024 which was played on 29 June at Barbados.
The Indian team was led by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli was adjudged as the Player of the Match for his superb knock of 76 runs. Fans were eagerly waiting for the team to return but the team’s stay at Barbados extended because of a hurricane as all the flights got cancelled.
When the Indian team returned, it got a warm welcome at the Delhi airport, then they met the Prime Minister Narendra Modi after taking rest at five star hotel, ITC Maurya and then the players went for an open bus victory parade in Mumbai after which they were felicitated at Wankhede stadium, Mumbai.
At Wankhede Stadium, the Indian team took a lap of the stadium and the famous song, “Maa Tujhe Salam” which was composed by A. R. Rahman was being played at the venue.
In a video clip which is going viral, the Indian cricketer Virat Kohli is seen encouraging the other players including the skipper Rohit Sharma to sing the iconic song along with the fans.
An X user posted the video with the caption, “Looks like it was Virat Kohli’s plan to sing Vande Mataram with the Wankhede crowd.”

The BCCI announced a cash prize of Rs. 125 crore for the Indian team and as per the reports, the 15 members of the squad along with Rahul Dravid will be paid Rs. 5 crore each. The remaining coaching staff will be paid Rs. 2.5 crore each, the backroom staff will get Rs. 2 crore each, the selection committee members and the reserve players will get Rs. 1 crore each.
Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja have announced their retirement from the T20I format but they will continue to play in ODIs and test matches.
