The T20 World Cup 2024 which is being hosted by USA and West Indies is getting all the attention of cricket fans but it is also making headlines for some wrong reasons such as empty stadiums, drop-in pitches and poor level of commentary.
While the pitch at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York has shown uneven bounce and it has been termed as sub-standard and unsafe by many former cricketers, the empty stadium in a match which was played between West Indies and Papua New Guinea has irked not only fans but also the ICC as West Indies is the co-host of the tournament and if spectators are not coming to watch their country’s match, who will come to see matches of the other countries.
The commentary in this tournament has also been slammed and currently a video is going viral in which the commentator has to speak about the league matches of India but he mixes locations with the countries and makes a weird statements. Instead of speaking India vs Ireland, he says Ireland vs New York and instead of talking about the high-profile match – Ind vs Pak, he said Pakistan vs New York and so on.
