The final of the IPL 2024 was played on 26 May between Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad and it was won by KKR by 8 wickets; however interestingly both the teams didn’t have any Indian cricketer who is a part of India’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2024.
The former Pakistani cricketer Wasim Akram poked fun at the Indian players by saying that they all were thinking ahead, they said to themselves what the use of playing the final is, they will play for the country.
However he also added that it could be blessing in disguise for India as now the Indian players would not be able to say that they were tired. While speaking on the show, he said that in the last episode, he was worried that the players will be tired but now they can go and play one or two practice matches and fitness won’t be a problem as nowadays, fitness levels are pretty high.
India will be playing their only practice match on 1 June against Bangladesh at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. As far as the Indian team’s first league match is concerned, it will be against Ireland on 5 June at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York and then India will play against their arch-rivals Pakistan on 9 June at the same venue.
Talking about the IPL final, SRH batted first and could manage only 113 runs which is the lowest total ever in the IPL final and SRH also became the first team to get all out in the IPL final. KKR had no problem in chasing the target of 114 which they did in less than 11 overs with 8 wickets in hand and lifted the IPL trophy for the third time.
Team India won the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup which took place in 2007 and since then, fans are waiting to see their team lifting the trophy for the second time.
