The former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri is one of the most popular cricket celebs of the country, he was a part of the 1983 World Cup winning squad and he has also served as the head coach of the Indian cricket team.
Though India didn’t win any ICC trophy during the tenure of Ravi Shastri, there is no denying the fact that the Indian team’s performance was quite impressive when he was the head coach of the team.
Recently, Ravi Shastri appeared on the YouTube chat show of the Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin and when Shastri was asked whether he wants to coach an IPL team after 2021, he said that not really, especially after coaching India for 7 years but nothing can be said about the future.
Talking about the times when he was the head coach, Ravi Shastri said that it was one of the toughest phases since the World War II as the world was dealing with COVID-19. He said that in that phase, they had dealt with quarantine, bubbles, etc. and it was the time when a person wanted to take a break from dugout and dressing room. Shastri added that he got the freedom to express himself through the broadcasting and mic and he had fun as well.
Talking about mentoring youngsters, Ravi Shastri says that he doesn’t rule out the possibility but whenever he will take up the responsibility, it won’t be for the money factor but because of his interest of working with youngsters.
He adds that once a person is involved with the game and plays it, the idea of contributing towards the youth certainly crosses the mind and a player always wants to pass on the knowledge to the young kids before he himself forgets it.
Ravi Shastri further says that he will enjoy mentoring youngsters because there will be language and cultural challenges and he will like to bring them together and play fearless and ruthless cricket.
Well, he certainly has a good experience of coaching and the IPL teams won’t mind having such a high-profile coach, what do you say?
