No doubt, air pollution is a serious issue and it needs to be curbed as soon as possible, but don’t you think there should be a logical way of doing so?
In UP, a strange thing is being done for fighting air pollution. Well, around 350 priests are performing mahayagya so as to get rid of pollution. However, for that, they are burning around 50000 kg of mango wood. How far is this logical and justified?
The ritual started on the 18th of March and priests believe that chanting mantras along with this yagya will control air pollution to a great extent. These priests belong to Shri Ayutchandi Mahayagya Samiti & will perform this for 9 days.
In UP’s Bhainsali Ground (Meerut), a 15,000 square feet area has been dedicated & 108 fire pits are set-up for the same. This would get over only after 10 million offerings are made.
The yagya would be performed daily from 8am to 7pm and priests have been called from Vrindavan and Varanasi. It is surprising to see that UP’s pollution control board isn’t intervening because they believe it is a religious event and can’t be stopped.

Here’s how people reacted;
Andha-Shraddha!
Cutting trees to burn wood to curb pollution. What a scientific method used by them. Kudos. #Navaratri
Pro Tip- never let your ”Shradhdha” turn into “Andh-Shraddha”
