The Indian women are making the country proud by achieving milestones in various fields but there are still many people who are not able to get rid of their old mentality. They believe that women are suitable only to work in kitchen and not out of house.
In Alwar, a man chopped off his daughter-in-law’s head as he was not happy with the fact that she used to go out to work. The accused is said to be of the opinion that women going out for work is against the honour and pride of Rajputs.
The woman used to work in a factory in Shahjahanpur village, Alwar, and she was on the way to work when her father-in-law chopped off her head with a sword. The incident happened yesterday morning close to village’s Khatushyam temple.
What was more shocking was that when the victim was attacked on road, no passerby tried to help her.
The name of the deceased is Uma while her husband’s name is Mukesh Rajput and the couple has two kids. The couple worked in order to support their family and their children’s education but the accused Maamraj, who is the elder brother of Mukesh’s father, was not happy with Uma going out for work.
Neighbours and family of the deceased told police that Maamraj fought with Uma in past also when she worked in a school because he believed that it is against pride of Rajputs. Some neighbours are also of the opinion that Maamraj is mentally unstable and he doesn’t work despite the fact that he has sold all his land and property.
The accused is now in police custody but to stop such crimes, a positive change is needed in the mentality of people.
