Bhansali’s “Padmaavat” has been in the centre of controversy ever since the film’s shooting started and after a lot of ups and downs, the flick finally managed to hit theatres on 25th January, 2018.
It was 2 years ago in January 2016 that protests regarding the film began and Sanjay Leela Bhansali was manhandled on the sets because Karni Sena made claims of a romantic scene between Alauddin Khilji and Rani Padmavati.
The filmmaker continuously refuted the same but the fringe group was in no mood to pay heed and protests turned uglier with each passing day.
Even prize money was put on the heads of Bhansali and Deepika and Karni Sena also threatened to chop off Deepika’s nose for extending support to the film.
Yogendra Singh Katar, leader of Mumbai unit of the protesting group, stated that Sukhdev Singh Gogamadi, national President of the group, asked some members to watch “Padmaavat” yesterday.
After watching the flick, they have come to the conclusion that it glorifies Rajputs’ sacrifice and bravery. What’s more, they believe that it will fill Rajputs with pride.
In a letter, he stated that no objectionable scene between Padmini and Khilji which could hurt Rajputs’ emotions exists in the flick. He further announced that the group will withdraw protest and on the contrary, they will provide assistance to administration for releasing “Padmaavat” in Gujarat, MP and Rajasthan in all theatres of the country.
Twitter also reacted over this and here are few selected comments:

Oo poor #KaraniSena now it's too late as #RajasthanByPolls gave strong message against your protest and unnecessary Govt. Support. Better try your tactic in another planet.

@PMOIndia @narendramodi Make karni sena pay for the loss that the nation & its people had to suffer coz of #KarniSena 's hooliganism. No action will be taken as your support to such people.#PadmaavatRow #ModiFails #BJPfails

Elections in Rajasthan being over and Congress having won all the bye elections ,there is now no need for protests . It shows how the protests were more political motivated than due to hurt of feelings.

Finally there’s some good news for Bhasali and the team of “Padmaavat” and we hope that it will positively affect the film’s box office collections too. What do you say?
