Although there were protests all across the nation, Padmaavat hit the screens on 25th of January. Many crazy fans booked the first day first show tickets, as they didn’t want to wiat any more.
In many parts of India, theaters were flocked despite Thursday being a working day. Sadly, the film earned just 18 crores on the opening day. Expectations about opening day figures were too high, since Padmaavat is a grand movie and is made on a budget of 200 crores. Unfortunately, the collection was disappointing; now, makers are hoping better numbers on this long weekend.

But wait, we have a piece of good news for you. Even though the movie hasn’t shown a good performance in India, it has broken big records overseas.
Padmaavat has beaten 2 big movies “Bahubali 2” and “Dangal” in terms of overseas collections (UK, Australia and New Zealand). Breaking the records of these 2 biggies was difficult but Padmaavat did it.
Padmaavat earned 1.88 crores in Australia, 29.99 lakhs in New Zealand and 88 lakhs in UK (paid previews). This brings a total of 2.8 crores
Dangal’s collections were 1.5 crores
Bahubali 2’s collections were 1.3 crores
