Indian Award System is corrupted to the core and it’s not a fact that is hidden from everyone. Over the course of time, many big stars have come out and have spoken that how these so-called awards are part of a sale. Those who pay or perform at the function get the awards and quality is the least considered part while picking up the winners.
But still, we are Indians and everything that glitters we tend to consider it Gold. Same thing happened recently as the city of Mumbai hosted star-studded Zee Cine Awards 2018.
The event was attended by bigwigs like Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Sridevi and many more.
Don’t know why and how this hope emerged in the mind of “us Indians” that they will acknowledge good cinema? Seriously! And finally, when the results were declared, we are acting as if something really unexpected has happened.
Golmaal Returns was given the Best Film Award and the Award of Cinematography ignoring the deserving films like Newton, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Hindi Medium, Rangoon, Jagga Jasoos and many others. But isn’t that award functions really work all the time?
Forgot how Saif Ali Khan called Indian Awards as the biggest joke in the world? And he said it just last month.
Anyway, Twitterati was seriously taken aback by the decision of Zee Cine Awards 2018 jury for rewarding Golmaal Again instead of so many other deserving films. Have a look at how they reacted-

Golmaal Again won Best Film at the Zee Cine Awards! I love that they've completely stopped pretending to be legit.

In a year of Rangoon, Jagga Jasoos, Newton (all exquisitely shot films), the Zee Cine Award for Best Cinematography went to β wait for it β Golmaal Again.

Hail Hindi Cinema. Are they not bored and ashamed of doing this ? Are these awards given on internet voting by general public? Or they set up a jury? https://t.co/5U0RFtL6iC

And then they excoriate Kangana Ranawat for saying awards are rigged, and diss Aamir for ignoring them. π https://t.co/V2UKCYwXGN

Sorry @ZeeCineAwards but I *don't* think #GolmaalAgain deserves to get "Best Film". Of all the films that released this year, the ones that surpassed boundaries & showed an emerging India, why exactly did THIS film bag the award? You have no value for good cinema, sorry to say.

What are your thoughts on it?
