No matter how many films Bollywood makes every year, there’s never a film that really makes it to the final round of Oscars and brings the prestigious trophy back home.
Rajkummar Rao starrer Newton was selected as India’s official entry for the Oscars and everyone was hopeful that perhaps it will make the country proud.
Sadly, even Newton couldn’t go long and was out of the race of Oscars. The Top 9 names under the foreign category for Oscars were announced today and Newton was not there in the list. Here is the list of 9 films that were selected-
A Fantastic Woman (Chile)
In the Fade (Germany)
On Body and Soul (Hungary)
Foxtrot (Israel)
The Insult (Lebanon)
Loveless (Russia)
Felicite (Senegal)
The Wound (South Africa)
The Square (Sweden)
However, with the news of the film getting out of the race, some people on Twitter got a chance to bash it.
As per them, Newton was bound to be rejected as it was not the right selection by the jury. Have a look-

This didn’t go well with another filmmaker and Rajkummar Rao’s friend Hansal Mehta who took to Twitter and lashed out everyone for criticising Newton. He tweeted-
