Actress Alka Kaushal along with her mother has been sentenced to a 2-year jail in the fraud case of Rs. 50 lakhs.
Reportedly, the actress who played Kareena’s mom in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kangana’s mother in Queen and has been significantly active on TV with serials like Qubool Hai, Swaragini failed to defend herself in a cheque bouncing case.
As per reports in Amar Ujala –
“Advocate Sukhbir Singh said that Alka and her mother had borrowed 50 lakhs from an acquaintance, Avtar Singh. The money was borrowed with the promise of serial-making. When Avtar asked Alka to give back her money, he got 2 cheques of 25 lakhs each. But they got bounced. After that Avtar, filed a case against Alka and her mother in Malerkotla court.”
Avtar Singh who is a farmer had moved to Malerkotla court back in 2015, which sentenced them to jail. Alka then appealed in higher court, at Sangrur for some relief, but the additional session’s court upheld the lower court’s decision. The actress and her mother are now in Sangrur district jail.
Alka Kaushal is married to television producer and director Ravi G Kaushal with whom she owns Mangalam Arts.
Alka Kaushal’s brother is actor Varun Badola, who is known for shows like Koshish – Ek Aashaa and Des Mein Niklla Hoga Chand. Her sister is a radio jockey based out of Mumbai.
Well, rarely a celeb gets to face the jail after doing something wrong. It might have been a hard decision for court but guess the victim will be happy with the justice. We just hope he gets his money back too.
