Sounds strange, isn’t it? But as they say Truth is stranger than fiction, it is the truth of Dichaon Kalan. The village, which is deprived of basic necessities such as Primary school, a clinic or nursing home, a bank or even an ATM, not even a departmental store, however every house in this village has CCTV cameras installed at their gates.
Dichaon Kalan is just like any other regular village in the northern part of India with muddy roads, big farms and lots of greenery, it is just an hour journey away from the capital of India, New Delhi, almost on the border between Delhi and Haryana with a population of approximately 9,000.
CCTV cameras are a necessity for every household as they need to keep an eye on their surroundings to keep themselves safe. The reason for such a dangerous atmosphere in the village is the gang wars which has made the installation of CCTVs a basic necessity to survive. This village is a witness of some of the cold blooded crimes which involve the gangs who function out of New Delhi.
Bharat Singh, the former MLA has been murdered and the villagers are sure that his brother Krishan Pehalwan will definitely take revenge. Police is presently providing security to Bharat Singh’s family. Udayveer Kala is said to be the person responsible for Bharat Singh’s murder, however it is all talked in low voice and nothing is being said in public but everyone says that both the families have a history of enmity, and the past instances make Kala an important suspect.
The main reason for installing CCTV cameras is to find out that who is on whose side, the main motive of these cameras is to spy on the villagers. If anyone shows concern to Kala family or goes to meet him, this will be seen as supporting them by Pehalwan.
