Parvez Rasool, the only cricketer from India’s own paradise Jammu & Kashmir to represent the nation might have just landed himself in some serious trouble. After getting a recall in the side after being sidelined since 2014, Parvez Rasool was a happy camper last night. All his happiness was short lived though as camera had caught him standing casually chewing a gum while the national anthem was being played during the 1st India England t20 at Green Park, Kanpur yesterday.
The issue started setting some pace on social media when clippings of the aforesaid video started getting shared by a few twitteratis. Parvez Rasool has been working very hard and has been constantly delivering results to earn his well deserved comeback. All that was highly disapproved though when the news of him disrespecting our country’s national anthem started spreading like a wild fire. Twitteratis showed their discontent towards Rasool’s casual act and blasted him with different tags.
This is the video that shows Parvez Rasool standing casually while the national anthem was being played

According to the Section 3 of the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act, 1971,
“Whoever intentionally prevents the singing of the Indian National Anthem or causes disturbance to any assembly engaged in such singing shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to three years, or with fine, or with both.”
If the said video turns out to be true then Parvez Rasool might be In for some serious trouble.
The Video however is not conclusive enough to prove the charges. Parvez Rasool might just have just been casually standing and singing the national anthem. Also, according to the mentioned statement above, Parvez Rasool did not intentionally disrespect or disturb the national anthem and thus can slightly consider himself safe.
Twitter was not going to let Parvez Rasool go free so easily though. This is how twitterati showed their discontent.
Why should he wear India’s jersey?

We just hope that Parvez Rasool stands with the truth and accepts his fault if only he has been at fault. The other aspect, that is, Parvez Rasool might have been casually singing National Anthem can also be true. We hope a talent doesn’t get wasted on the pretext of some social hoax. Do leave your views about what you feel Parvez Rasool was doing and what next the authorities should do about all this.
