Be it the slap-gate or spot-fixing scandal, S Sreesanth has had a fair share of disgrace to his name. When he was arrested by the Delhi Police for having alleged involvement in the spot-fixing scandal in 2013 that tarnished the image of IPL completely, S Sreesanth’s career was certainly facing a dead end. It was a shock for the Indian Cricket Community to watch the player who took the most memorable world cup winning catch getting involved in such disgraceful and unacceptable crime. Sreesanth was subsequently punished for his act as he was banned for life by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
He never gave up his hopes of making a comeback to cricket and had his hopes further boosted when he was acquitted from the case and was cleared by the Court to play cricket again. The BCCI however remained strict and did not lift the ban imposed on Sreesanth.
Sreesanth too was adherent to make a comeback and hinted at playing for a Scottish first division club side. In an interview in last December he said, “As far as I remember, the ban for me was for not to play in BCCI tournaments and not to represent BCCI. Maybe, I will get an opportunity to play there. I am not happy with the way BCCI has treated me. I am waiting to get (BCCI’s) permission to play club cricket.” The BCCI though maintained their strict stand and denied Sreesanth an NOC to play in Scotland.
The strange fact about all this is that, according to Sreesanth, BCCI has not sent his ban in written to any of his state or district associations. Sreesanth was furious with this ignorant attitude of BCCI and took to Twitter to express himself.
He slammed BCCI for not accepting court’s decision and lifting the life ban imposed on him. He also insisted that he is trying his best to get back to cricket and serve the nation again.
I'm not going anywhere.I will fight it out.iam sure I will get to play no matter how small my chances are.,I will keep working hard .#Hope
