R‘Comedy Nights Bachao’ has always been popular for its ‘Roast format’ rather than its comic timing and I am sure you will agree to this statement. However, this format has not gone down well with many celebrities; in fact some of them preferred not to come on the show for film promotions rather than getting roasted.
However, the show has been revamped to ‘Comedy Nights Bachao Taaza’ and now, it is said that the roast format has been toned down a bit! But NO! Tannishtha Chatterjee, who came as a guest on the show for promoting her movie “Parched” was so furious over the roast format that she literally walked out of the show.
The hosts made fun of Tannishtha’s dark complexion, and this was no less than a nightmare for her.
The actress says that she was pretty cool about being ‘Roasted’ on the show, but such racist jokes were not at all expected. Want to know what the hosts named her?
Well, they called her ‘Kaali Kalooti’ and also said that her complexion is so, because she has eaten Kaala Jamuns since birth. This is obviously very embarrassing, isn’t it?
For Tannishtha, it was not ‘Roast’, but it was ‘Bullying’. Further talking about this issue, Tannishtha says;
“Even today this is not about me being offended but because a burning issue is being promoted through such shows. It’s as bad as making a joke about a marginalised community. That is not the spirit of Parched or the face of a woman who believes dark is beautiful.”
She vented out her anger through a Facebook post! She mentioned how irritated she was with the show;
Here’s her post…
However, Krushna Abhishek had a different angle to this! He says Tannishtha is doing this only for publicity purpose. He says
“She is doing this for publicity. We always meet the actors before they come on the show. I had asked her if she had seen the show before and if she was familiar with our (roast) concept. She said she hadn’t seen the show. If she didn’t know what it was, she shouldn’t have come on the show.”
Krushna also said that on the show, they mainly talked about Radhika Apte, and this might have hurt Tannishtha’s ego. The host also said that other guests Leena Yadav and Radhika Apte had no issues with the format.
However, Colors replied to the Facebook post of this actress with an apology. Here’s the note…
So guys, what do you think? Was it some kind of publicity gimmick or was her anger genuine? Do let us know your thoughts in our comments section below.
