Rape cases have become very frequent. Every now and then, we hear news of girls being brutally raped, and this surely gives us goosebumps, isn’t it? What is more shocking is that the rapists don’t even spare elder citizens or kids.
The other day there was news about an 80 year old woman being raped to death! We indeed need to do something about this, don’t you think so?
Amidst all this, there is a wonderful movie ‘PINK” which hit the theaters on 16th of September. It throws light on the harsh reality of Indian society ‘RAPE’.
Amitabh Bachchan has received a lot of appreciation for the way he has perfectly essayed the character of lawyer i.e. Mr. Deepak Sehgal.
The movie highlights 2 important concepts of ‘Sexual consent’ and ‘Gender inequality’ in a hard-hitting manner. One dialogue from the movie has been ruling our hearts and i.e. ‘NO Means NO’.
Apart from this, the flick also addresses the unmistakable double standards prevalent in the Indian society, misogyny and slut-shaming that women face daily.
However, it teaches 5 Golden rules, which would change the entire scenario. Have a look…
Rule No.1
This thing is very common. A girl going alone with a boy to a washroom or resort gives people the license to think that it is the fault of the girl who has ‘Willingly’ come there and not of the boy who has ‘Forcefully’ taken her.
Rule No.2
A girl SHOULD NEVER ALLOW a boy to touch her at all! No matter how close she is with the boy, touching is a ‘STRICT NO’. Sometimes, girls feel that touching is allowed while having fun or while joking, but they don’t realize that this itself is enough to create a serious problem.
Rule No.3
If a girl comes home post 7pm, she is characterless! We are not telling this, but it is the society who labels them this way. But is it ethical to decide the character of a girl on the basis of ‘TIME’? Can’t a decent girl come home late from work?
Rule No.4
It is a crime if a girl sits and has a drink with a boy! Why? This is because a boy has that typical mentality that if a girl can drink with him, she can even sleep with him!
Rule No.4A
Rule No. 4B
Rule No.5
The ‘Venue’ decides whether the character of a girl is good or whether she is ‘Characterless’! If someone spots her in a disco or a pub wearing short skirts, she is a ‘Bad girl’ but if the same girl is spotted in a temple or a library, she is a ‘Good girl’! Seriously? Should the place decide the character of a girl?
So guys, we definitely need to learn a lot from the movie! Share your thoughts on this in our comments section below.
