Even if Madras is called Chennai now but every year, August 22 is celebrated as Madras Day as it is the day on which this city was founded.
This 22nd August, the capital city of Tamil Nadu celebrated its 377th founding day and obviously, the celebrations did not complete without mouth-watering South Indian delicacies.
Even more amazingly, the Madras Day was celebrated by the Americans too! A video is released by the United States Consulate General, Chennai, which shows the Americans enjoying South Indian food in the most authentic way or rather we should say, the typical traditional way.
Eating food without fork, spoon and knives is quite unusual for the Americans but this time, they were eating the food, which was served on the banana leaves, with their hands.
They went to the Kasivinayaga Mess which is one of the most famous messes of Chennai and before eating, they themselves cleaned the banana leaf. Sounds surprising, doesn’t it?
