And the legacy for making the world cinema proud continued with this year’s 87th Academy Awards. While bagging most of the award in BAFTA, Birdman continued to win awards and accolades in OSCAR’s as well. The celebrated award ceremony, saw a pool of stars performing and not giving a miss to the grand event.
The major award for the evening went to The Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) under the category ‘Best Picture’. Beating other strong contender “American Sniper” “Boyhood” “The Grand Budapest Hotel” “The Imitation Game” “Selma” “Whiplash” and “The Theory of Everything” and emerging as the winner.
It also managed to draw awards in 3 other categories – “Best Director” – Alejandro G. Iñárritu, Best Original Screenplay and for Emmanuel Lubezki it was his second Oscar in a row under the category of Best Cinematography. Birdman lost the award for Best Actor to Eddie Redmayne for “The Theory of Everything.”
There were total 8 movies which were nominated and for each of them there were at least one award. Thus, none went empty handed and all fared well.
