Back in 2014, a promise of ‘Achhe Din’ made BJP the undisputed leaders of India. The high promises made everyone believe that a positive change is about to take place.
Three years later, it is only the hopes that remain; the promises are getting lost in the blame games that are played every now and then. Almost everyone who voted for BJP with a hope of getting good governance, now stands confused.
BJP, as the opposition party, mocked the ruling UPA government on many grounds. Eventually, three years of BJP’s rule have made people believe that they’re no different either. The fact that people trusted in BJP, gives them the right to question the performance of their choice so far.
The trust that people have bestowed upon them, has made it difficult for them to accept the reality. So, to clear away their confusion i.e. whether or not they’ve made the right decision by electing BJP, we’ve listed out ten questions that every single person should ask to their very own government.
1. Did India get any black money back from Swiss bank?
An RTI from a Rajasthani man, who wholeheartedly voted for Modi with a hope that he will bring back the black money, asks the PM when he will get his share as promised during the elections. If black money was not supposed to be shared with common man then did India get any black money from Swiss bank? The CPIO of the PMO did not answer the RTI, stating that they did not receive any plea from the complainant. No answer from the government; as per our knowledge, not even 15rs have been transferred to any account yet.
2. Has the Pakistani army stopped cease firing on Indian soldiers?
PM Modi was not afraid to term the UPA government as ‘coward’ for handling Pakistan meekly. Ever since he came to power, the number of soldier casualties has increased even further. Yes, there was a surgical strike as well, but that did not bring down the number of lives lost on the border and neither did it stop Pakistan. The promise of stopping Pakistan has now turned into a question which PM Modi prefers not answering.
3. Did demonetization stop the flow of black money?
Over a 100 lives were lost for taking up an unplanned masterstroke from the PM, to fight black money. Yet no words were spoken by the brave PM to condemn the loss of human lives. The motto of the plan was big they say. So, even at the cost of over 100 lives, did demonetization actually helped government in curbing black money? As per a report in the Hindustan Times, the government had spent a whopping 1.28 lakh crore for getting the mess of demonetization cleared. The plan was excellent but poor governance meant that the execution was bad enough to spoil it.
4. Is the price rise now under control?
When crude oil was priced at around $100/barrel, Congress priced petrol at around 70 Rs/litre and that used to hurt BJP the most before 2014. Now, when the crude oil prices in the international market have almost halved, the BJP is still pricing petrol at almost the same rate. Apart from petrol, almost every single commodity has experienced a price rise. When they were gutsy enough to target UPA for price rise, they should be bold enough to answer it for themselves too.
5. Has the number of farmer suicides fallen down?
The Modi government was made for the poor or at least promised to be so. Encountering farmer suicides was the most difficult issue the Modi government was likely to face; eventually they failed miserably. According to the data received by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), there has been an increase of 42% in the number of farmer suicides after 2014. Who is responsible?
6. Where are the two crore jobs that were supposed to be generated every year?
Amit Shah, Modi’s closest aide, stated that it is not possible to provide jobs to the entire nation. So, does he mean that the total population of the country is two crore or is he admitting that their promise was just a slip of tongue? Forget about two crore jobs, we are likely to be in a stage where more jobs will be lost than created. There is a constant loss in the number of jobs created by the government and if the trend is not changed, the youth of the country will bear the tag of “Unemployed”.
7. Are the likes of Vijay Mallya, Robert Vadra and other scammers behind the bar yet?
‘We will bring back black money’, a statement that PM Modi screamed on top his voice before the elections, still remains to be a mere promise. The people who trusted BJP, were beating their chest to tell the whole world that the people who looted India, will now be behind the bars. As time passed, all those chest beaters are now trying to hide their faces somehow. Anyway, it is three years now and we are still waiting for an answer to the above question.
8. Are there any new roads being constructed?
According to the Ministry of Rural Development, the state governments required Rs 57,206 crore after a year of Modi government just to complete pending road-building projects already sanctioned. The total budgetary allocation of three fiscal years for PMGSY stands at just over Rs 53,000 crore, which is still not enough to complete the already pending projects. So when will new roads be created? By 2023?
9. Is there any ‘Jan Suraksha’ left for a common Indian citizen?
Around 60 per cent of the people who consider Modi’s government as satisfactory too are not satisfied with the below-par law and order of the country. From Gau Rakshaks to the Anti-Romeo Squad, there is simply no stopping to any of their inhuman and unacceptable acts of violence. So, as PM Modi promised ‘Jan Suraksha’ in 2014, is the promise anywhere near been completed?
10. Is BJP following its motto of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’?
The reason for asking this question doesn’t need any substantial explanation. The undisputed mandate in favor of BJP meant that they were supposed to rule without any opposition. BJP, due to their own failures, have managed to create an opposition and that too from the common masses. There is hardly any strong ‘Vikas’ as yet, but the hooligans have made sure that the failure remains hidden. These hooligans are the only ones who have experienced their personal Vikas under BJP.
It is not all doomed, there have been positive achievements too. But at what cost? There are hardly two to three ministries that have shown a positive result while the rest of them fall on the negative side. So, after three years, is just an overall 10% growth acceptable?
These questions are not meant to label the government as a bad one, but are just to remind people that asking questions and opposing the wrongdoings of their government is the actual meaning of democracy. It doesn’t remove BJP from power; it instead helps them improve on the aspects they’ve failed to cover. Managing a government is no joke and public dissent is the only way of making sure that the government remains on the right track.
Also, these promises were made by BJP leaders themselves and thus, they are the only ones responsible for the unanswered promises. So, before you come up with your wise wisdom, please remember that we didn’t ask for all this, but it was the Modi government who promised it. Do let us know if you too want to ask any other question to the Modi government in our comments section below.
