1. Siddhivinayak temple was originally built by Laxman Vithu and Deubai Patil on Thursday November 19, 1801.
2. Siddhivinayak is well known as “Navasacha Ganapati” or “Navasala Pavanara Ganapati” which means Ganapati bestows whenever humbly genuinely prayed a wish’ in Marathi among devotees.
3. This beautiful temple was constructed on 19 November 1801, and the original structure of the Temple was a small 3.6 m x 3.6 m square brick with a dome-shaped brick known as Shikhara.
4. The building was funded by a rich Agri but childless woman named Deubai Patil. Her motive behind funding the temple was that she wanted the Lord should grant children to other barren women and fill their lives with happiness.
5. The 2550 sq m temple complex had two 3.6 m Deepmalas, a rest house and living quarters for all the caretaker here.
6. The temple had an adjoining lake 30 x 40 sq. m. in size on the eastern and southern side of the temple by built by Nardulla.
7. The Siddhivinayak temple receives donations of around Rs 100 million- Rs 150 million every year, which makes it the richest temple in Mumbai and among the top ten riches temple in India.
8. History says, the idol of Shree Siddhivinayak was carved out of a single black stone and is 2’6” (750mm) high and 2′ (600mm) wide and has the trunk on the right, which is the most unusual appearance of lord Ganesha.
9. On both sides of the Lord Ganesh idol, idols of Riddhi and Siddhi goddesses are placed. Due to these two deities’ places along with Lord Ganesha, this temple is known as the Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple.

10. Lake was built by Nardulla in early 19th century was for the purpose to overcome the scarcity of the water, which was then faced by the area. However, later after the lake was filled up, and now converted into playground and a part of Kakasaheb Gadgil Marg.

During the road extension project of Sayani Road near Elphinston Road in Mumbai, workers of Municipal Corporation unearthed an idol of Shree Hanuman and he placed it on the roadside and continued with their work. Devotees coming to Shree Siddhivinayak Temple brought this into notice and told the head priest Shree Govind Phatak. He immediately brought the Hanuman idol and built a compact temple for it. This was around 1952.
12. Among the devotees, it is believed that Shree Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple , a two-century-old Temple fulfills the desires of the worshipers.
13. The temple, which was opened in 1801, was renovated in 1990.
