When I was in school, I had to score a minimum of 50 in each subjects to secure a rank. Rank ? Yes, a position which could convince me of my oblivious existence. I grew up and I absconded myself into a university where I had to be one of the top 10 scorer to include myself in the list of ranker. A hall of fame they said. This trail wasn’t over yet. When I applied a job in a leading MNC, they asked me if I am a ranker or one representing the HALL OF FAME. I wasn’t that special one and I had none but myself to blame for that. I was, in fact I am the one belonging to a category called AVERAGE. I belong to what they say A MASS. An average. Be it an average student or an average professional or an average job-seeker or an average competitor. I am the one among the crowds. One cannot deny the fact that we have tasted failure more than anyone else. We don’t lose our sanity if we fail. We know how to pick ourselves up and pamper ourselves to get back in the business of running and chasing again. We don’t drool over our failures much. We are the ones who allow SHARMAJI ka BETA to showcase his pseudo-arrogance and take a pride on his delusive achievement.
Let me tell you about the cons and pros we adhere to as an individual belonging to a mass.
1. We are always UNDER-RATED.
This indeed holds true. Yes, we are under-rated. It’s not that we run short of talent; it’s just that the world is yet to recognise us. They believe in facts and numbers. We neither have a glamorous certificate as a fact, nor do we have great figures on our scholastic report card. We aren’t considered as a part of race because we have always maintained a low profile. Ask us to know how it feels from the bottom out here.
2. We bank on ourselves to think creative.
Believe it or not, it’s because of our creative mind, we fall out of the race to be a ranker. We were absolutely busy doing everything else apart from studying or finishing our assignments. In job, our minds always wander to do something different than what we are actually compelled to do. The sad part is that we mere THINK of doing something different, rather than actually executing it. Bank on us to solve a problem existing in a day to day life. We know how to think creative and beyond.
3. We know the value of friendship better than anyone else.
This is because our friends were never a colleague or a competitor for us. We were never envious about what our friend is doing or achieving. Rather than competing in a rat race, we run as a team to beat the odds. Secretly and silently, we function as a team to give our shoulders to each other when in need.
4. We are considered as dark horses.
Because of the fact that we have been an average, we are considered as a dark horse of every challenge thrown upon us. In case we outperform someone who is better than us or someone who was assumed to be a winner already, we are marked as a dark horse every time. We tend to surprise our critics with our work at times. Critics call us lucky, but we know our true worth.
5. We are the jack of all trades but a master of none.
The best thing about being an average is that we possess diversified skills. We are the jack of all trades but a master of none. We aren’t a specialist in everything or a master of our subjects, but when it boils down to applying basics in our day to day life, we are the sure winners. We keep our common sense and basics were equipped.
6. We never WISHED to enjoy our life, we actually enjoyed our life.
Unlike the rankers, top performers or rat racers, we don’t envy the fact that we have not lived out life to the fullest. The fact is, we have. We are the ones to cake smash our friends rather than mere texting them or writing on their facebook walls. We are the ones to be with our friends in person rather than texting them to stay strong over a Whatsapp. No room for excuses in relationships.
7. Less ego, more let go.
The fact that we are tagged AVERAGE, its because we let go the insults thrown upon us by our teachers, parents or boss. We don’t have to deal with a FRAGILE EGO because we have a thick skin attitude towards our critics. We have less of ego to suffer on. It’s not that we overlook the statements made on us; we just show up as if nothing happened. The tactful ploy to a situation is already running in the back of our mind.
8. Our parents keep a track record of everything we do. At least they try to.
Our parents keep a track record on everything we do. They try to maintain a log book of our activities so that we are reminded about our oblivious targets and objectives. Courtesy Mr Sharma and his son, we are always looked down upon by our own parents.
9. We compel ourselves to take up a 9-5 job rather than following our heart.
We are the one for the crowd because we have compelled ourselves to follow the crowd. We are risk averse and so we haven’t really challenged our talents ever. Its sad just to blame our peers for this. The fact is, we have compartmentalized our desire of creativity so much that we have become a slave rather than a master.
10. We know the feeling contentment so that we live every moment.
We are always content with what we have at present. We try to make the most of the present rather than drooling over our past or worrying about our future. We are not insecure and bothered about the future holds for us because we have developed a gaped outlook towards life. We know how it feels to fall and rise. Failure isn’t dreadful for us.
To end with, no one can deny that fact that in spite of all the hurricanes of emotion we are surrounded with, we never give up. We stride to reach to the top. We are a part of the crowd not because we are lunatic but because we are reading an autobiography written by a famous, rich and successful person and we are trying to replicate them or maybe we are too involved in writing their biography of success. This post is an attempt to make you well conscious about the fact that you are all meant to write your own autobiography of success in different spheres of life. Make your roadway to failure and success worth a read. Never give up on what you believe.
